Freedom Park
Charlotte's flagship park: a large pond loop with trails, greenway connections, playgrounds, benches and generally clean central restrooms. Parking is tight but findable; the pond itself draws complaints.
A big loop around the pond with many path options, connecting to a couple of greenways
A central facility described as usually clean, with water stations
Described as challenging, though visitors report always eventually finding a space
Plenty of shaded ground alongside the open areas
A large playground aimed at the youngest visitors, plus swings
The park itself is described as clean while the pond draws recurring complaints about colour and odour
Benches and picnic tables throughout
Several visitors specifically wish a splash pad were added for hot days
What we could not confirm
Visitors have not described these, so we are not guessing:
- Enclosure
- Ground surface
- How busy
- Accessibility
How we know this
Every value above comes from what visitors described on site, read one park at a time. Where accounts disagree we say so rather than picking a side. Where nobody has mentioned something, we leave it blank and ask you.
